Transit and Trails website

The Bay Area Open Space Council has released a BETA version of a new website designed to help hikers (and campers and cyclists) easily find local trailheads and campgrounds. A scalable Google map makes the site easy to navigate. You can also plan your trips on public transportation (my test case was a random spot in southern Marin to Skyline Wilderness in Napa -- pick your own starting and ending spot -- it's great fun!) .

It is still BETA -- I was just poking around and saw an icon in the wrong place here and there, but what a great resource for bay area hikers and folks from out of town planning hiking/camping adventures.

Thanks for the post! This is Ryan Branciforte from the Transit and Trails team. Look forward to new features such as adding trips and trailheads, photos and other info, and sharing and organizing trips with your friends and family.
Transit is not always perfect, but there are so many great spots to get to on public transit! Thanks again!

That's so awesome. It'll keep me from circling around when looking for the trailhead. Love the bahiker website!
